Randstad, Melbourne

Client Objectives

Randstad is a Dutch multinational human resource consulting firm headquartered in Diemen, the Netherlands. Randstad specialises in connecting people with the right jobs, and employers with the right people.

Randstad wanted to consolidate their Melbourne CBD footprint and operate from one site, to realise efficiencies in space and to promote collaboration across the
wider business. Randstad envisioned an office that served as an attractive, engaging space that encouraged their staff to work in the office rather than remotely.

After an extensive search, a lease on Level 6, 500 Bourke Street, Melbourne was negotiated on very favourable terms. To fast-track the fitout process, we leveraged, where possible the design and lessons learnt from Randstad’s Sydney and Brisbane accommodation projects.

The project prioritised an agile, staff-focused workplace by adopting a 70% desk-sharing model and an open-plan layout that maximised natural light. A multifunctional kitchen/ breakout was included for team and client events, while meeting rooms were placed centrally to keep daylight in work areas. A mix of
collaborative, quiet, and flexible spaces were designed to support varied work styles and visiting staff.

Results

  • Early access for fitout negotiated
  • Fast-track delivery process
  • The project was delivered to budget and on program
  • Branding and finishes palette consistent with other Randstad offices
