Nine, Newcastle

Client objectives 

NBN Television (an acronym for Newcastle Broadcasting New South Wales Television) is owned by Nine Entertainment Co. Pty Ltd. NBN commenced transmission from its existing premises at 11-17 Mosbri Crescent, Newcastle on 4 March 1962 and was the first NSW country station on the air. Today, NBN remains NSW’s foremost regional television network with Free to Air coverage from Newcastle to the Gold Coast delivering the highest quality local news, sport and weather. It is a 365 day a year operation across both television and digital. Nine executed a sale and lease back arrangement for the existing site which had to be vacated by June 2021.

Results

• After an extensive property search and due diligence exercise Nine entered a lease to occupy Level 3, 28 Honeysuckle Drive.
• The facility includes 100 sqm studio, 25 sqm TOS, 6 Rack Data Centre, Newsroom, Voice Over and Edit Suites.
• The construction works were completed ahead of the Lease expiry date at Mosbri Crescent with adequate time remaining to commission and test all broadcast infrastructure.
